• Most sites are selected from government and non-profit agencies, professional associations and academic institutions with programs in specialized topics. They have been chosen on the basis of authority, scope, currency, and stability.

• Private or corporate sites that are included have been highly rated by reviewers specializing in website evaluation.

• Many sites are or contain directories of other places on the web where pertinent information can be found. Sites requiring memberships or forms have been excluded for reasons of simplification.
